Chaz’men Williams-Ali

American tenor Chaz’men Williams-Ali’s Season 2023-24 includes Cavaradossi Tosca at Cedar Rapids Opera, the role of Nate Highway 1 USA in his Los Angeles Opera debut, and his return to Rodolfo La Boheme at Florentine Opera.

Recent highlights include his Metropolitan Opera debut as Zorn Die Meistersinger and Spinner (c) Fire Shut up in my bones, a role he inaugurated in the original production at Opera Theater of St Louis in 2019. He sang Narraboth Salome at Madison Opera, Rodolfo La Boheme at Kentucky Opera and Der Prinz Rusalka at Opera Omaha, following his work as principal tenor at Theater & Orchester Heidelberg in Germany where he appeared as Pinkerton Madama Butterfly, Florestan Fidelio, Canio Pagliacci, Tebaldo I Capuleti e i Montecchi and Der Prinz.

For Romeo Romeo et Juliette, Maryland Lyric Opera

“Lyrical doesn’t begin to capture to sublime beauty and suppleness of tenor Chaz’men Williams-Ali’s voice as Roméo. Soaring throughout the Kay Theatre in almost every scene of the opera, Mr. Williams-Ali’s voice was a revelation throughout the evening, as in the tender duet “O nuit divine” with Juliette near her bedroom balcony, or in the deeply emotional duet of love and forgiveness with Juliette “Va! Je t’ai pardonné,” Mr. Williams-Ali gorgeously conveyed every emotion Roméo experienced with his voice.”

Jacqueline Wilson Lucas  DC Theater Arts July 2015

For Narraboth SALOME, Madison Opera, 2022:

“Chaz’men Williams-Ali is believably smitten, and he sings beautifully, too.”

Lindsay Christians, The Cap Times, November 22, 2022
