Natasha Te Rupe Wilson
Natasha Te Rupe Wilson spent Season 2020-21 in her home country, New Zealand, having returned from Pittsburgh Opera where she was a 2019-20 Resident Artist. She appeared in the role of Lisa La Sonnambula for Days Bay Opera, and as Purea in the world premiere of Star Navigator for New Zealand Opera, a work by Tim Finn of Crowded House fame. Most recently, Natasha sang the role of Zerlina Don Giovanni for Wellington Opera, as well as Marzelline Fidelio in concert with Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra under the baton of Giordano Bellincampi.
Recent highlights include her time as a 2019/20 Resident Artist at Pittsburgh Opera, where she made her mainstage US debut as Rosalba Florencia en el Amazonas and sang the role of Morgana Alcina. She returns to Pittsburgh Opera in 2022-23 for a principal role.
“…with Natasha Wilson getting to show off her sweet-sounding upper extension in the many ensembles in which Marzelline has the highest line.” Simon Holden, Bachtrack, 20 May 2021.
“Soprano Natasha Wilson, as Alcina’s sister Morgana, poured out a glorious display of her abilities, and made the most of the character’s approach to comic relief. That she is a gifted singer was obvious from her first appearance with the company in the autumn, but Handel’s music allows her to shine far more brightly than the part of Rosalba in Florencia en el Amazons could have led one to expect. She sings with much brilliancy and possesses the stamina possible only to vocalists with the most polished of techniques.” George B. Perous, Pittsburgh In The Round, 2020
“Natasha Wilson, as Purea, proved yet again to be one of Aotearoa’s most glorious sopranos with her glittering resonant tone.” Clare Martin, NZ Musician, March 2020
“…The fresh and lyric beauty of Natasha Wilson singing a totally delicious vedrai carino, literally enrobed in roses and cream.” Clare Martin, Radio 13, 2019
