Robert Emery
Robert Emery is an award-winning conductor, orchestrator, pianist and music producer. He started playing the piano at the age of seven, won the RBC Concerto competition aged 11 and won the Regional BBC Young Musician competition twice, as well as reaching the last and best ten pianists in the BBC Young Musician competition.He studied at the Royal College of Music, making his highly acclaimed London piano debut when he was only 13. He turned to conducting, trying it out for the first time with the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 17. He studied conducting with Neil Thomson, a pupil of the renowned Leonard Bernstein, and is partial to conducting barefoot. At the age of 23, he was the youngest artist to conduct at the Sydney Opera House. At 29, he conducted the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan with Andrea Bocelli as soloist.
Conducting projects include three productions with English National Opera at London’s Coliseum: My Fair Lady (2016), Carousel (2017) and Sunset Boulevard (2022); Lord of the Rings Live (worldwide), Game of Thrones Live (worldwide), Classical Spectacular (London Royal Albert Hall), The Best of John Williams world tour (2023), The Music of Stewart Copeland (Opera Nova, Poland 2019), Russell Watson world tours (2010-2015) among a number of variety, proms and gala concerts. He had a lengthy collaboration with his good friend, Meatloaf, on Bat Out Of Hell – The Musical (London Coliseum, Dominion Theatre, Ed Mirvish Theatre, Toronto, New York City Center Theatre Broadway, Metronom Theater Oberhausen, Australia Arena Tour, Manchester Opera House & UK tour 2017-2022).
